Interview with Kevin van der Veer WoodWatch

WoodWatch, founded in 2013 by Daniël Salimian, Kevin van der Veer and Jeroen Westerbeek, rapidly grew to become one of the Netherlands' fastest-growing web shops (ranked number 3 in the Emerce Top 50 in 2017 with revenue exceeding half a million).

Initially, WoodWatch worked with a payroll company because they didn't know how else to handle it. They had registered as an employer and immediately received letters from pension funds, which they had no expertise in managing. However, the payroll company charged a factor of 1.7 to 1.8 on the gross salary, which quickly became too expensive as the workforce grew.

WoodWatch chose Employes for two important reasons: price and convenience. Although you manage your own payroll administration with Employes, it is not difficult. The platform made it easy for the young, rapidly growing company to hire people without worrying about administration. This allowed them to focus on what they do best, whilst payroll administration remained well organised.

After switching to Employes, WoodWatch experienced:

- Significant cost savings compared to the payroll company (from a factor of 1.7-1.8 to much lower)
- Ease in hiring new employees
- Removal of administrative barriers to workforce expansion
- The ability to grow without worrying about payroll administration
